The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Mr Sam George Nartey, has indicated that data synchronisation is a catalyst for digital transformation and economic growth in Ghana.

He made the statement when the UK High Commissioner paid a courtesy call on him last Friday.

Data synchronisation is the process of ensuring that multiple copies of a dataset remain consistent across different systems or locations. According to Mr Nartey, data synchronisation is crucial in Ghana as it ensures accurate, up-to-date data that enables policymakers and stakeholders to make informed decisions.

"Automated data collection reduces manual errors and increases productivity," he noted, adding that synchronised data would enable government agencies and institutions to deliver better services to citizens.

The Minister stated that the benefits of data synchronisation would be achieved by investing in necessary infrastructure, building capacity, promoting data-driven innovation and fostering collaboration among government agencies, private sector organizations, and civil society groups.

“By prioritising data synchronisation, Ghana can unlock its full potential and achieve sustainable economic growth and development,” he noted.

On her part, the British High Commissioner, Harriet Thompson, commended the Minister for his commitment to leveraging technology for economic growth and development.

She expressed the UK’s keenness to collaborate with Ghana to develop its data synchronisation capabilities and looked forward to exploring opportunities for cooperation in that area.
