
Asante Kotoko will mark one-week celebration of the late Francis Nana Yaw Frimpong, also known as Nana Pooley, on Sunday, February 16, 2024, at the Heroes Park in Kumasi.
The death of Nana Pooley at Nana Koronmansah Park in Nsoatre last week has sent shockwaves across the football fraternity, with Police currently investigating the issue.
Asante Kotoko, in a social media post, said the Omanhene of Kukuom Traditional Council, Osahene Nana Kwaku Aterkyi II, and his family have granted the club permission to hold the one-week celebration for their staunch supporter.
Kotoko, in a club statement, also said that they have not authorised any person or entity to receive donations on behalf of the club ahead of the one-week celebrations.
“However, supporters who wish to donate money can make their contributions through the club’s official mobile money number 0549765842 with their names as reference, and donations in kind can be made at the front desk of Opemsuo Radio at Manhyia Palace,” the statement said.
In another related development, a vigil was held on Sunday, February 9, 2025, for the late Nana Pooley, with supporters across various clubs partaking in the event.
The event was attended by Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum, former Black Stars coach and current Sudan head coach James Kwasi Appiah, among others.
