President John Dramani Mahama has given the assurance that the report presented by the committee set up to gather information as part of Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) will be carefully studied.
The President received the report of the committee chaired by North Tongu Member of Parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa on Monday, February 10.
Speaking after receiving the report, President John Dramani Mahama noted that the cases will be investigated by the Attorney-General immediately.
“The work does not end, the recommendations of the report will be studied carefully.
“I have handed the report to A-G to commence immediate investigations in the case reported,” President Mahama said.
According to Okudzeto Ablakwa, the ORAL Committee received 2,417 complaints. The Committee has built 36 cases which he believes can fetch the state $20.49 billion if successfully pursued.
“We received 1,493 calls through the toll-free line. We also received 924 emails. Fortunately, all the calls are recorded automatically, and the emails have also been preserved for verification and validation. In total, the number of complaints received amounts to 2,417 complaints,” Ablakwa said.
The North Tongu Member of Parliament continued, “So, those who had any doubt about how relevant and timely the President’s intervention was at the time, this is your evidence. 2,417 complaints received. Where would all of these people have gone if President Mahama had not set up the ORAL preparatory team?...The 36 cases we have reviewed in detail if we are successful in recoveries, we can retrieve as much as $20.49 billion.”
