Madam Joycelyn Akorfa Dotse-Ametsi, running mate for the People’s National Convention (PNC) in the 2024 general elections, has been installed development queen for Abutia-Kloe in the Ho West district of the Volta Region.
She was installed under the stool name, Mama Woe Nenyo I at a colourful ceremony over the weekend.
Mama Woe Nenyo pledged to work with the chiefs and queen mothers, and citizens of Abutia, including those in the diaspora to bring development to the area.
The Queen Mother stated that community development was a major issue that required all hands-on deck to ensure its sustainability.
Mama Woe Nenyo stated that Abutia was endowed with magnificent sceneries, fertile and vast land for agribusines, which could be used to develop jobs for the people, particularly the youth.
She said unity was critical for community growth, and that she would work with the appropriate authorities to boost tourism potential in the area and attract investors.
Mama Woe Nenyo revealed that Abutia was the site of a state farm under President Kwame Nkrumah, where cotton, pepper, and other crops were grown with the help of Chinese experts.
She stated that Abutia might become an industrial hub via collaborative efforts, and she urged the chiefs and queen mothers, as well as the citizens' home and abroad, to work together in peace and harmony to expedite the area’s development.
Mr Bernard Morna, the PNC’s Presidential candidate, who was the guest of honour, implored Mama Woe Nenyo to champion the development of the area and bring transformation to the people.
He stated that chieftaincy and land issues had become major sources of tension in the country, which did not bode well for the country’s future and called for efforts to address them.
