The Chairman of the Ad-Hoc Committee investigating the chaos that disrupted the ministerial vetting of nominees by President John Dramani Mahama last month, Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah has refuted allegations of bias.
This comes after Minority leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin requested the recusal of Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah as Chair of the Ad-Hoc Committee.
In a memorandum addressed to Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin who is the Speaker of Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin cited concerns over Emmanuel Bedzrah’s breach of impartiality and confidentiality.
He alleged that the Committee Chair’s actions have compromised the integrity of the committee’s work.
“This request is made not as a challenger to your authority as Speaker but as a necessary corrective measure to restore faith in the process and ensure that the inquiry does not lend itself to perceptions of partisanship or undue prejudice,” the memo said in part.
Speaking to journalists to address the accusation on Friday, Emmanuel Bedzrah said he is surprised.
He rejected the accusation and urged the Minority to provide proof of the bias.
“I’m not biased, you have all seen what we have done here and we were surprised that they [Minority] were not here.
“He was here with us so I don’t know where that accusation of bias comes from so he has to identify where I was biased,” he said.
