Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa claims he was the primary target of the disruptions that marred the ministerial vetting process in Parliament last week.
Appearing before the Special Committee investigating the chaos on Friday, 7 February 2025, Ablakwa insisted that the disturbances were not coincidental but rather a calculated effort to derail his confirmation.
"It was evident that I was the focal point of the turmoil. The sequence of events was not random; it was a deliberate scheme to obstruct my vetting," he informed the committee.
The disorder, which escalated into heated confrontations among MPs, prompted Speaker Alban Bagbin to suspend four lawmakers and initiate a formal inquiry.
The investigative committee, chaired by Ho West MP Emmanuel Bedzrah, has been mandated to identify those responsible and propose appropriate actions.
Ablakwa’s testimony introduces a new dimension to the inquiry, suggesting underlying political motivations behind the disruptions.

Yes they were right if you were the target. Why did the chairman want to bring you in without prior information to the minority members, after they had finished vetting six instead of the originally agreed three nominees? You knew the committee members were tied and so you wanted a free passage with just a few soft questions eh? You have been very tough on the ministerial nominees during the tenure of the previous administration, why wouldn't you want to face same tough questions?
