Elections Nana Akua Afriyie pushes for recollation, rejects rerun in Ablekuma North
THU, 06 FEB 2025

Nana Akua Afriyie, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Ablekuma North, has firmly rejected any possibility of a rerun in the constituency’s unresolved parliamentary election.

Speaking to Channel One TV, she insisted that the results from the three polling stations in question should be collated, not subjected to another vote.

“The three polling stations, we have the pink sheets. We have the original pink sheets and we have the scanned copies, so why the rerun?” she questioned. “I don’t agree in any way. We are not going for any rerun. We are going to collate those three polling stations.”

The dispute stems from a High Court order on January 4, 2025, directing the Electoral Commission (EC) to finalize and declare winners for four outstanding parliamentary elections.

While three constituencies have had their results announced, Ablekuma North remains unresolved due to incomplete results from three polling stations.

Collation resumed on January 8 but was suspended again, prompting the EC to schedule it for January 17.

However, citing security concerns, the Ghana Police Service advised a postponement.

The EC later stated that a lack of enhanced security at the collation center led to an invasion by party supporters, forcing yet another suspension.
