Western Region has not received its fair share of development – Mahama laments

President John Dramani Mahama has bemoaned the underdevelopment in the Western Region.

During his Thank You Tour of the Region after winning the 2024 Presidential election, John Dramani Mahama indicated that although the Region contributes immensely to the country’s economy, it has not received its fair share of development.

The President while engaging traditional leaders during his tour assured that this will change under his government.

“The Western Region has long been the bedrock of Ghana’s economy. From gold to cocoa, from oil to timber, this region has contributed immensely to our national wealth. And yet for far too long, it has not received its fair share of development.

“Nananom, this must change. I’m here today to assure you that under my leadership as president of The Republic Of Ghana, the Western Region will take its rightful place as a priority in Ghana’s development agenda,” President John Dramani Mahama said.

During the engagement, President John Dramani Mahama stressed that it is important for the great wealth of the Western Region to translate into better roads, quality healthcare, and job opportunities for the people.

“The great wealth of this region must translate into better roads, into quality health care, into improved opportunity, job opportunities, and to improve education, and a better standard of living for the people of this region,” the president stated.
