The National Identification Authority (NIA) has debunked media reports suggesting it has adjusted its fees for the registration of the Ghana Card.

On Tuesday, February 4, the Authority uploaded a flier with the fees charged for registration at their premium centres, ranging from GHS310 to GHS420 for first-time registration, card replacement, and other services.

However, the NIA observed that Daily Graphic carried the news and presented it on social media platforms as a revision of fees, prompting an uproar.

“The National Identification Authority (NIA) has noted with great concern some misinformation on Facebook by Daily Graphic dated 4th February 2025, with the caption ‘NIA introduces new fees for Ghana card services at premium centres.’ The statement by Daily Graphic is false and untrue,” the NIA’s statement, dated February 4, reads in part.

The authority stressed that the said fees and charges were approved in 2023 by the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana and have not been reviewed since.

The fees and charges in contention, according to NIA, apply only to its Premium Centres, while District Offices remain free for all first issuance processes.

The NIA further explained that the reason for posting the e-poster to inform and remind prospective applicants about the charges was based on frequently asked questions.
