Armed Robbery On Bole-Bamboi Road

14.06.2007 LISTEN
By Daily Graphic

Dear Editor, The Bole-Bamboi Road is gradually becoming a haven for armed robbers and people, especially those from the Upper West Region feel unsafe to use it.

The situation is so serious that members of the community are always afraid when their relatives are travelling down south.

The armed robbers at times force travellers at gunpoint to lie on the ground while they seize the travellers' money and other valuables. All this sometimes leads to deaths, since some drivers unintentionally run over passengers lying on the ground.

Unfortunately for the people in the region this road is very important if they have to travel to Kumasi or farther south.

I am, therefore, appealing to the Minister of the Interior, the Ghana Police Service and also the Ghana Armed Forces to find a lasting solution to this problem.

This can be done by ensuring that every vehicle plying that road has a well-armed security officer. In addition, some police posts should be established along the road.

There could also be a police patrol unit along the road. This will put some fear in the armed robbers and make travelling on that road enjoyable and safe.
