Professor Kwabena Frimpong Boateng, Chief Executive of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, has denied that he has quit the race of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidentials.

He said he was seriously in the race of flagbearers of the NPP and there was no question of he ever stepping down as he has been reported in a section of some newspapers.

He therefore urged his supporters to dismiss the rumours with the contempt it deserves.

Speaking to Metro TV, an obviously shocked Frimpong Boateng said that "I was the very first candidate to declare my intentions to vie for the NPPs presidential slot and since then I have toured all the 230 constituencies of the country.

Besides, according to him, he has toured some of the constituencies twice and the impression he gets is that he is the one the people want as their standard bearer for the NPP come December.

He gave assurance that the rumours would be by no means dissuade him from going ahead to campaign and make sure come the party's presidential primaries, he emerges as the flagbearer of the NPP to lead it to victory in the 2008 presidential and parliamentary elections.
