Mining Daredevils still engaging in iIllegal mining, devastating lands and water bodies at Nsutam

Arocha Ghana research has shown that some daredevils are still engaging in illegal mining operations, resulting in severe land and water degradation at Nsutam, a community situated just beyond Bunso town on the Accra-Kumasi highway.

The once-thriving rivers and fertile lands have been devastated by these miners' reckless and uncontrolled activities. Farmers in the area are bearing the brunt of this escalating impunity, posing serious livelihood risks.

The pollution and degradation of local water sources have created major challenges for agricultural activities, as farmers now struggle to access clean water essential for crop production and sustainability.

To counter this threat, a task force should be established and be deployed at each of the illegal mining center. When the workers are first arrested and taken into custody, investigations will lead to the arrest of the "big men," who are behind the illicit mining. They shouldn't be spared at all.
