My vision is to position GNPC as a global leader in the oil and gas industry — Edward Bawa
The newly appointed Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Edward Bawa, has promised to reform the Corporation.
According to him, he aims to achieve this by collaborating with stakeholders and partners in the industry to increase investment.
“My vision is to position GNPC as a global leader in the oil and gas industry while ensuring that our operations significantly improve the quality of life for Ghanaians. A key part of this vision is fostering stronger collaboration with our partners to increase investments in the sector,” he wrote in a social media post on Monday, January 27, his first day at work.
He added that his primary focus is to build on GNPC’s mandate of sustainably exploring, developing, and managing Ghana’s petroleum resources for the benefit of all Ghanaians.
The former Bongo Member of Parliament was appointed by President John Dramani Mahama, with the appointment taking effect on January 17, 2025.
Mr. Bawa holds a Bachelor of Education in Chemistry from the University of Cape Coast and a Master of Business Administration in Business Finance from the University of Liverpool.
He previously served as the Head of Communication for the World Bank’s oil and gas capacity-building project under the Ministry of Petroleum.
Established in 1983, GNPC is the state agency responsible for the exploration, licensing, and distribution of petroleum-related activities in Ghana.
