Kwabena Boadi, an undertaker was on Friday remanded into prison custody by a Kumasi Circuit Court for stealing plumbing materials worth ¢80 million and unknowingly selling them back to the owner.

Boadi pleaded guilty to the charge and will re-appear before the court on June 22, 2007.

Giving the facts of the case, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Regina Kesewaah told the court that the complainant, Madam Ama Boatemaah, a businesswoman owns a shop at Adum in Kumasi and sells plumbing materials.

She said early this year, the complainant detected that some of her items worth ¢80 million were missing from the shop, but a search for the items proved futile.

In an attempt to get her shop refilled, she contacted Boadi, who was selling the same items she needed.

ASP Kesewaah explained that when Madam Boatemaah saw some of the items, she was able to identify them as hers and caused the arrest of Boadi.

A search conducted in Boadi's room revealed only ¢18.3 million worth of the materials.
