National Youth Organiser of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha has indicated that he is extremely disappointed in the outcome of the 2024 general election where the party lost to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to him, party members must be allowed to express their anger after the defeat, arguing that it is an indication that the party is still alive.
In the lead-up to last year’s election, Mr. Mustapha and members of the NPP boasted of victory.
However, the results of the polls saw the NPP losing heavily in not just the parliamentary but the presidential contest as well.
Speaking to Asempa AFM on the ‘Ekosii sen’ programme on Thursday, January 23, Salam Mustapha said although the NPP put in a lot of work before the election, things didn’t work for the party, leading to the defeat.
“We put in a lot of efforts across the country as a team but it didn't work for us. We did our best to win election 2024. All party members should be allowed to express their feelings following our heavy defeat in the election,” the NPP National Youth Organiser shared.
Salam Mustapha continued, “I am also extremely disappointed in the outcome of the election. I share the frustrations of party members. In all things, you give thanks to God.”
Meanwhile, General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Frimpong Kodua has opined that the party lost the election as a result of spiritual machinations that worked against them.
He holds the view that the party suffered spiritually because pastors who prayed and interceded for the party did not do so due to anger.
