The Parliament of Ghana has cautioned the public against unauthorized entry into the Appointments Committee room, where President John Dramani Mahama’s ministerial nominees are being vetted.
This was contained in a statement dated January 22, signed by David Sabastian Damoah, Director of Media Services at Parliament.
The statement acknowledged the public’s interest in the vetting process but emphasized the need for orderliness.
“To ensure the security and safety of Members, staff, and the general public, as well as enable the smooth operation of the Appointments Committee, Parliament has decided to limit physical access to the venue of proceedings.
The general public is accordingly informed that only persons with invitation cards or appropriate accreditation will be permitted to access the Committee room and the precincts of Parliament,” the statement said.
Parliament further directed individuals without invitation cards or accreditation to follow the proceedings via live broadcasts.
This directive follows President John Dramani Mahama’s nomination of individuals for consideration and approval by Parliament as Ministers of State and Regional Ministers, in line with Article 78(1) of the 1992 Constitution.
