Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Majority Leader in Parliament, has urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to allow President John Dramani Mahama’s administration adequate time to implement its policies without undue criticism.
Addressing a press conference in Parliament on Tuesday, January 21, Dr. Forson emphasized that the government, being only two weeks into its tenure, requires “breathing space” to effectively govern.
“The Mahama administration is barely two weeks old, yet it has already been inundated with unwarranted attacks from the Minority. I appeal to our colleagues on the other side to grant the government the necessary breathing space to steer the affairs of this country. Let us work together to build a better Ghana,” Dr. Ato Forson stated.
He further highlighted the government’s commitment to addressing the nation’s economic and social challenges, urging for collaborative efforts in nation-building.
“The government has laid out a comprehensive roadmap to address the economic and social issues confronting our nation. Let us allow it to implement its policies without undue interference,” the newly approved Finance Minister said.
Dr. Ato Forson’s remarks come in response to the NPP attributing responsibility to members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the recent violent clash in Obuasi.
The incident, which occurred on January 18, involved a confrontation between local youth and security personnel at a mining site in Obuasi, leading to casualties.
