Parliament has approved President John Dramani Mahama’s first batch of nominations for key ministerial positions.
Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson was confirmed as Minister for Finance, John Abdulai Jinapor as Minister for Energy, and Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine as Attorney General and Minister for Justice.
The approval process was announced during the debate of the approval of the vetted nominees on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, with the 2nd Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Andrew Asiamah Amoako, overseeing the proceedings.
During the debate, he stated, “As many are in favor of the motion listed…the motion is hereby adopted.”
He further extended congratulations to the nominees, expressing hope that they would “make us proud.”
The nominations were submitted to Parliament on January 9, 2025, in accordance with Article 78 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.
Dr. Forson, a seasoned economist and chartered accountant, brings extensive experience in public finance and macroeconomics to the Ministry of Finance.
John Abdulai Jinapor, with a background in energy policy, is poised to lead the Ministry of Energy to tackle the energy crisis.
Dr. Ayine, a distinguished legal practitioner, will oversee the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General.
