Former Deputy Minister for Fisheries, Francis Kingsley Ato Cudjoe, has cautioned Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa to dissociate himself from the Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) initiative, describing it as lacking legal merit.

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Joy Prime, Mr. Ato Cudjoe expressed concerns over the potential impact of Mr. Ablakwa’s involvement in ORAL on his political career.

“I just want to advise my friend Okudzeto; he’s a nice guy and all that. Personally, I like him. I like his politics too, except sometimes when he goes overboard. My advice to the NDC and Okudzeto is that the election is over. You used ORAL to get the youth to come on board,” he said.

He further criticized Mr. Ablakwa’s continued involvement in the initiative, which he claimed was designed primarily as a campaign strategy to mobilize support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 general elections.

“You, Okudzeto, are a politician. You sit in Parliament, and you know that this thing (ORAL) has no legal leg. Don’t get yourself involved so that later you mar your reputation. He has presidential ambitions. He should not mar himself with things that don’t have legal backing,” Mr. Ato Cudjoe noted.

The Operation Recover All Loots, spearheaded by President John Mahama, aims to retrieve alleged misappropriated state funds and assets from formal appointees.

While its proponents argue that the initiative is necessary to promote accountability, critics have questioned its legality and transparency.
