George Opare-Addo, the Minister-Designate for Youth Development and Empowerment, has pledged to spearhead transformative initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Ghanaian youth.
His assurance comes following his nomination by President John Dramani Mahama as part of the second batch of ministerial appointments announced on Thursday, January 16, 2025.
In a statement expressing gratitude for the nomination, Opare-Addo outlined his vision to tackle youth unemployment and poverty through what he described as “the most aggressive and transformative policy framework for youth development in Ghana’s history.”
“Together, we will create decent jobs, empower millions, and lift young people out of poverty,” he declared. “This is not just a personal milestone but a collective opportunity to rewrite the story of our nation’s youth. This story belongs to you, the young people of our nation, and we will write it together.”
As the National Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Opare-Addo has played a key role in mentoring young people within the party.
He now seeks to extend this influence on a national scale, emphasizing inclusivity and quick action to address youth challenges.
“No matter your political persuasion, creed, or background, my doors are open. No time for long bureaucracy. My mind dey for you,” he stated, signaling his readiness to work with young people from all walks of life.
Opare-Addo also called on young Ghanaians to take advantage of the opportunities that his ministry would create.
“Let’s start that business, that initiative, that dream—and make it a Ghanaian success story,” he urged.
Parliament is expected to vet and confirm his nomination in the coming days.

Creating million jobs? I believe Zoomlion will be happy to employ the numerous graduates youth to sweep our streets and collect the pile up rubbish in all our corners in Accra. Three shits collecting cow dungs and cleaning markets, That would be nice for the Ndc graduates.
