Professor Ransford Gyampo, a Senior Political Science Lecturer at the University of Ghana, has given a GHS10,000 donation to support the education of a Swedru Senior High School (Swesco) student who gained national attention for returning a missing purse containing an undisclosed amount of money.

In a social media post on Thursday, January 16, Professor Gyampo expressed his admiration for the student’s honesty and commitment to doing what is right.

He wrote, “The guy is shedding tears. Someone stole my wallet and called me to tell me to send him money before he gives it to me. Anyone with connection to the guy, his parents, or the headmistress should link me to them.”

Professor Gyampo continued, “As a teacher who is always leading strike for better conditions of service, I will support his further education with a widow’s mite of TEN THOUSAND CEDIS (10,000 cedis). We must call out what is wrong and encourage what is right.”

He added in a similar post: "Social Media is fast ooo… Anyway, just to announce that Golda Andam, Headmistress of SWESCO just called me on phone and we have sorted my 10,000 cedis support of the student who returned the missing wallet with all its content."

The student’s action has caught the public’s attention, and several organizations have since stepped forward to commend him.

The Adepa Teachers Credit Union, recognizing the student’s exemplary behavior, presented him with cash, items, and a promise of a potential scholarship for further education.

They also pledged to offer him a job after schooling, ensuring his future remains bright and promising.
