Patricia Masithela, a 27-year-old Nigerian woman, tragically lost her life after being attacked by a pack of starving dogs in Latina, Italy.
The horrifying incident took place late Monday night at a derelict villa in the Lazio region. Patricia had reportedly gone to visit a male acquaintance, unaware that he was not at home.
Her screams drew the attention of neighbors, who alerted authorities. When police arrived, they found Patricia critically injured, lying in a pool of blood with deep bite wounds across her body.
In an attempt to rescue her, officers shot two of the dogs, causing the rest of the pack to flee.
Paramedics administered emergency treatment and rushed Patricia to Santa Maria Goretti Hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries due to severe blood loss.
Local authorities have launched an investigation to determine how the starving dogs came to the area and the circumstances leading to the attack.
