Ernest Kofi Owusu-Bempah, a Deputy National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed strong support for renowned Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie amid recent criticisms.
In a social media post dated Thursday, January 16, Owusu-Bempah encouraged Sarkodie to remain resilient, attributing the negative feedback to jealousy and admiration of his success.
“Don’t let haters bring you down; they are just jealous of your awesomeness,” Owusu-Bempah stated. “Haters are just confused admirers. They are intimidated by your masterclass and cannot handle the fact that you are crushing the game!”
He further emphasized that Sarkodie’s achievements have elevated him to a level that some find difficult to accept.
“Your success, talent, and confidence are on a whole different level, and they can’t stand it,” the vocal politician noted.
This defense follows a wave of criticism directed at Sarkodie concerning a recent social media post. On January 8, 2025, Sarkodie shared a cryptic message: “Back to gari soakings like we never left.”
Many interpreted this as a subtle critique of President John Dramani Mahama’s return to office, given Sarkodie’s previous political commentaries.
The post has sparked heated debates online, with critics accusing Sarkodie of hypocrisy and inconsistency, while loyal fans defend him, asserting that the message was a playful nod to simpler times and not a political statement.
Sarkodie, known in private life as Michael Owusu Addo, has yet to publicly respond to the criticisms directly or explain his post clearly.
