A few days into the new Presidency of John Dramani Mahama Ghanaians began to praise the old and new president. They voice that Mahama as President is the better alternative compared to the NPP President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo.
In 2016 the same voters complaining about Nana Akufo-Addo today were in part his die-hard supporters while NDC members are loyal to JD Mahama. In 2016 with the effect of the NPP Presidency in January 2017 Mahama was seen by the majority of the voters as the second-best option to lead the country.
The tables have turned around and around the same problems of politics in Ghana. For his announced initiatives JD Mahama has been praised widely already. Corruption charges should be brought before the ORAL committee to look into allegations of the NPP reign regarding the looting of national assets. The ORAL committee rules known to the public do not include looting cases under the previous NDC administration but are only specifically targeted against NPP cases.
This strategy is applauded by the die-hard JD Mahama supporters. They argue the eight past years of NPP rule were the worst in recent history. Critical observers ask themselves why the NPP was not voted after four years out of office (election manipulation or fake news?). Others put forward the question of why the NPP did not undertake steps to prosecute potential NDC looters and see this as clear evidence that there was no corruption under JD Mahama during his first term in office. Other Ghanaians argue JD Mahama took a few of his own people to court over allegations of corruption...but why not all known to the public... including the Airbus scandal etc?
It is for the NPP to answer the question of why they did not chase after the NDC's potential cases. To argue this is a clear sign of NDC's innocence is not holding the truth. Others as common argue NPP spared the NDC from embracement hoping after looting by their own NPP members the new NDC government would let them walk free. As of now, all is pure speculation only questions can be raised.
What nevertheless is certain? When a people are happy about less corrupt leaders compared to others instead of demanding for corruption-free leaders God will just answer their prayers and give them less corrupt leaders. But corruption will be in the system always. Confusing! Irritating! What should God think about such people?
