The Minority in Parliament has emphatically rejected the work of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) committee put together by President John Dramani Mahama.
At a press conference on Wednesday, January 15, the Member of Parliament for Suame, John Darko urged all members of the former Akufo-Addo government to reject any invitation from the ORAL committee.
According to him, the Minority condemns the work of the ORAL and believes no serious country will entertain anything of this sort.
“No serious country will entertain anything such as this. And so if you are a former government official and you are invited by this so-called ORAL, our advice to you is to boycott any invitation from the ORAL team,” John Darko said.
The ORAL committee chaired by North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has been on the field since the new government took office.
The team is gathering information on officials of the formal government who stole state lands and properties or looted money from the state.
The team is expected to present the information gathered to the Attorney General and Minister of Justice’s office for consideration and investigation once the Minister assigned to the office is approved by Parliament.
Although Operation Recover All Loot has support from a section of the citizenry, some people hold the view that it is an illegality that must be shut down without delay.
