The Executive Director of the Media Foundation of West Africa (MFWA), Sulemana Braimah has proposed how the unending conflict in Bawku and its environs can be resolved.
In a post shared on social media, Mr. Braimah indicated that the conflict can be resolved if the country commits to the rule of law and the values of peace.
He commended President John Dramani Mahama for prioritising the resolution of the conflict and advised against the politicisation of the issues.
“I commend President Mahama for acting on his promise to prioritise the resolution of the Bawku conflict. The conflict can be resolved if we commit to rule of law and the values of peace. The previous gov't started well but ended up prioritising politics & votes over peace & lives,” Sulemana Braimah said in his post on X.
President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, January 14, visited Bawku where he engaged with traditional leaders and the people.
He assured that just as promised during his campaign prior to the 2024 General Election, his government is committed to bringing lasting peace to Bawku.
“During the campaign, I stated that if God granted our desire and I was elected president, bringing peace to Bawku was going to be one of my number one priorities. Today marks exactly one week since my swearing-in, and my first major assignment outside Accra is to assure you that we are working diligently to bring peace back to Bawku.
“I want to assure you that I am fully apprised of the issues, and I am committed to dealing with them. Trust in myself and this administration, and by the grace of God, peace will be restored permanently to Bawku,” President Mahama said.
