Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Special Aide to President John Mahama, has stated that former President Akufo-Addo will receive all the benefits due to him as outlined in the Constitution, despite the treatment Mahama received during his tenure.

Speaking on Accra-based GHOne TV, Joyce Bawah reflected on the poor handling of Mahama’s post-presidency entitlements, expressing her hope that such mistakes will not be repeated in the current NDC administration.

“President Akufo-Addo will certainly be getting what the constitution says we should give him—whatever the recommendations are. What happened to Mr. Mahama, embarrassing as it was and still is, I hope we don’t repeat those sorts of mistakes,” she said.

Mogtari, who has served Mahama for many years, emphasized the sacrifices made by individuals who ascend to the presidency.

She noted that serving Ghana as president is a challenging task, deserving of proper recognition and support once their tenure ends.

“People come to the presidency and they actually sacrifice a great deal. Having served Mr. Mahama all these years, it takes a lot to serve Ghana as president. For the citizens to offer the former president one house or two, I think, is not too much to ask,” she added.

Mogtari further took a swipe at the actions of Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia towards Mahama, calling it unfortunate and regrettable.

She noted that the incident would be a part of Ghana’s historical narrative for years to come.

“What Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia did to John Mahama is a matter that will forever live in the books of history. Unfortunate, regrettable, and unnecessary as it was, I’m delighted that we came out of it,” she stressed.
