Investment In Nkrumah's Abandoned Factories Will Boost Ghana’s 24-Hour Economy

Feature Article Investment In Nkrumahs Abandoned Factories Will Boost Ghana’s 24-Hour Economy
TUE, 14 JAN 2025

Investing in Kwame Nkrumah's abandoned factories will boost Ghana's 24-hour economy all day long, in addition to giving thousands of young people facing difficult challenges jobs. Many people, including the opposition, have misunderstood the NDC manifesto's call for a 24-hour economy, yet in many developed countries, such as Belgium, chocolate production and other companies operating shifts round the clock have made the nation wealthy even though the country does not plant cocoa trees.

With a massive national debt of over GHC 763 billion, Ghana is currently experiencing a severe financial crisis. As a result, the new government should not hunt for large finances and wait for parliament's consent to build new factories or industries to address the young unemployment problem. Mahama needs to put small loans into Kwame Nkrumah's neglected factories instead. This will lower the cost of spending and, shortly, lessen the crisis of youth unemployment.

The government of Akufo Addo-Bawumia has mismanaged Ghana horribly. With serious corruption scandals, including money laundering, the country's finances are shattered amid deception, violations of the constitution, looting, and embezzlement. Akufo Addo claims he doesn't want to hand over power to someone he has already defeated twice to avoid his good work being destroyed, which is an assertion one finds it hard to understand considering how Ghana has been destroyed beyond remedy.

Based on the book Agyapadie, which deals with the state's capture, resources, and properties, the former government has wrecked Ghana and depleted its finances. I must make it clear to the NDC government that, in contrast to the appalling NPP, their hardworking administration, in terms of development, has motivated me to write about them. However, I doubt that any of them would like me if the new government did not apprehend, prosecute, and imprison corrupt NPP politicians.

Rapid investment in the neglected Nkrumah’s factories would assist in alleviating the young unemployment situation, as Mahama would need a little capital to restore them than required to build new factories. The great African leader, Kwame Nkrumah, established a number of businesses, such as the Abosso Glass Factory, the GIHOC Fiber Products Company, the Tema Food Complex Corporation, the Akosombo Textiles Limited, and numerous others, all of which have since been abandoned and turned into waste.

The Komenda Sugar Factory's renovation will also help address the issue of young unemployment. There is no magician who can solve the problems the new government has taken over from the NPP, the most incompetent and corrupt administration in Ghanaian politics. Therefore, let all of us provide Mahama with all the assistance he requires to make Ghana a great country economically and politically.
