President John Dramani Mahama has stated that if Ghana’s family values were adequately taught in schools, the country would not have needed to pass the controversial Anti-Gay Bill.
Speaking during a meeting with clergymen, Mahama emphasized the importance of instilling these values early in life through education, rather than relying on legislation to enforce them.
“If we’re teaching our values in school, we wouldn’t need to pass a bill to enforce, you know, our family values,” Mahama said.
“And that’s why, I think more than even the family values bill, it is agreeing on a curriculum that inculcates these values into our children as they are growing up, so that we don’t need to legislate it,” he added.
He further noted that the bill had expired with the conclusion of the previous Parliament, and expressed a desire for a consensus-driven approach to reintroduce it.
The President added, “I do think that we should have a conversation on it again, so that all of us, if we decide to move that bill forward, moving forward with a consensus.”

Mr Mahama, please, no pussy footing or pilolo games with the anti lgbtq law. In fact, it must be enshrined as part of ammendments to the 1992 constitution.
