Legal practitioner and activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor has expressed skepticism about the effectiveness of President John Dramani Mahama's Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative.
Barker-Vormawor doubts the National Democratic Congress (NDC) can successfully investigate or prosecute any high-profile cases of corruption, contrasting their record with that of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In a detailed social media post, Barker-Vormawor highlighted what he sees as the NPP's more assertive approach to holding public officials accountable, referencing from past administrations.
He pointed out that under President John Kufuor, several senior NDC officials, including a sitting Member of Parliament, were prosecuted and jailed, with then-Attorney General Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo leading many of the cases.
He further emphasized that under President Akufo-Addo, three NDC MPs faced prosecution, with two being acquitted and one case still ongoing.
Additionally, Barker-Vormawor praised Akufo-Addo for setting a precedent by filing a criminal complaint against former President John Mahama over the Airbus scandal, calling it a bold move that shattered the myth that ex-presidents could not face prosecution.
However, Barker-Vormawor criticized the NDC’s track record, particularly under the late President John Atta-Mills, who he claimed embraced a "Father for All" philosophy that allowed alleged corrupt officials to evade accountability.
Reflecting on this, he remarked, "I feel like if ORAL was an NPP project, there would be a sword-cutting ceremony for the expansion of Nsawam Prisons within the first 10 days."

The Mahama administration should keep in mind that they cannot promise Ghanaians anything to win votes and then disregard it once they are in power. They are being keenly observed by the populace.
