Political Marketing Strategist Prof. Kobby Mensah has expressed disappointment in the performance of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, describing him as a disappointment for many Ghanaians, including members of his own New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to him, there were high expectations from Akufo-Addo when he was elected in 2016.
Many Ghanaians, he explained, believed Akufo-Addo was the leader who would deliver "the Ghana we want," but his governance failed.
“People felt that Kufour was John the Baptist and Nana Addo was the Jesus we had been waiting for, but it turned out Kufour was stellar,” he remarked.
Prof. Mensah further noted that even within the NPP, many members privately expressed their disappointment in Akufo-Addo’s leadership.
“A lot of them, when you have a conversation, will tell you Nana Addo was a disappointment. They thought he was stern, well-read, and globally accepted, but it turned out to be a disappointment. They believed giving him power would be transformative, but it was totally shambolic,” he said.
The NPP’s defeat in the 2024 elections to John Dramani Mahama, who campaigned on a promise to "reset the country," has left the party grappling with introspection and criticism of its recent leadership.

"We thought?" I am not included; even though he was being praised and idolized by many, I wrote harshly critical articles more than five years ago to show Ghanaians that Akufo Addo had two faces in the mirror, but no one took me seriously until he had irreparably damaged Ghana.
