2024 elections: Frimpong-Manso Institute calls for improved electoral process

The Frimpong-Manso Institute has called on the Electoral Commission to implement reforms aimed at enhancing Ghana's electoral process.

The Institute's recommendations follow its observations of the 2024 elections.

According to the Institute, the Electoral Commission should develop a credible and reliable strategy for collating election results with minimal delays.

FMI in a press release on Friday signed by its President, Rev Professor Paul Frimpong Manso said the EC should amend CI 127 to address challenges and improve the electoral process.

The Institute also urged the EC to improve its relationships with stakeholders, including political parties, and to promote the Inter Party Advisory Committee as a platform for discussions on key electoral issues.

The Institute called for regulations on campaign financing to prevent the monetization of political campaigning.

It also emphasized the need for clear rules to prevent the abuse of incumbency.

The Ghana Police Service was urged to promptly investigate election-related violence and to update the public on its investigations.

The Frimpong-Manso Institute deployed 44 observers to seven regions during the elections and has stressed the need for the media to promote issue-based elections.
