The Appointments Committee of Parliament is set to hold public hearings for President John Dramani Mahama’s ministerial nominees on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 9:00 am.
The hearings will be held in Committee Rooms 1 & 2 of the Administration Block, with live media coverage as requested by the Director of Media Relations, David Sebastian Damoah, to the Dean of the Parliamentary Press Corps.
The nominees slated for vetting include Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, who has been designated to serve as the Minister for Finance, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, nominated as the Minister for Energy, and Hon. Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, who is designated to the position of Attorney-General and Minister for Justice.
This move follows President Mahama’s announcement on January 9, 2025, of the first set of ministerial nominations under his administration.
In the official communication, he highlighted the experience and expertise of the nominees in their respective fields.
Profile of the nominees:
1. Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson - A seasoned economist, chartered accountant, and tax practitioner, Dr. Forson has a wealth of experience in public finance, macroeconomics, and fiscal policy. He holds a PhD in Finance from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and Master’s degrees in Taxation and Economics from the University of Oxford and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, respectively. He has served as a lawmaker for five terms.
2. Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor - Hon. Jinapor brings a rich background in energy economics and finance. He holds a Master of Science in Energy Economics from GIMPA and various other degrees, including a Master’s in Economic Policy Management and an MBA in Marketing. His expertise is expected to bring much-needed dynamism to the energy sector.
3. Hon. Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine - A senior lawyer with three decades of experience, Dr. Ayine has previously served as Deputy Attorney General and Minister for Justice. He holds a Ph.D. in Law from Stanford University and a Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of Michigan Law School, bringing significant legal expertise to the position.
