Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has claimed that President John Dramani Mahama has delayed moving into the Jubilee House due to security concerns.

Speaking on Onua FM's Yen Nsempa on January 9, 2025, Gbande alleged that the previous Akufo-Addo administration had bugged the presidential seat as they exited power to spy on the incoming Mahama government.

“We received intel that, as they were leaving, they bugged the building to gather information from the NDC and the new government. These are evil-minded people,” he stated.

Gbande explained that thorough security checks and spiritual cleansing are currently underway at Jubilee House to ensure its safety before President Mahama assumes office there.

“The presidency requires a level of security and spiritual purification after being occupied by people who defrauded God with public funds. We are making sure the place is safe for governance,” he added.

He further questioned why former President Akufo-Addo traveled with his own chair during his tenure, suggesting it was a matter for national investigation.

“Why did Akufo-Addo carry his chair everywhere? Should the incoming president immediately use a seat that was treated in such a mysterious manner? These are things we must interrogate as a nation,” he argued.

President Mahama, who was inaugurated on January 7, 2025, is currently working from his previous office in Cantonments while preparations at the Jubilee House continue.
