The Electoral Commission (EC) has released its updated official results from 275 out of 276 constituencies, showing President John Dramani Mahama leading Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia by a margin of 1,714,179 votes in the 2024 presidential election.
According to the declaration form signed by the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate secured 6,591,790 votes, representing 56.42% of the valid votes cast.
His closest contender, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Dr. Bawumia, obtained 4,877,611 votes, which translates to 41.75%.
The declaration indicates that the remaining constituency, Ablekuma North, has a registered voter population of 121,269. Even if all those votes were added to Dr. Bawumia’s tally, it would not be enough to overturn Mahama’s lead.
The total valid votes cast across the 275 constituencies stand at 11,683,483, with a voter turnout of 63.97%.
