Ghanaian activist Oliver Barker Vormawor has weighed in on the importance of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative, claiming that it is a more critical government policy than the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) program.
In a social media post on Thursday, January 9, Barker Vormawor emphasized the significance of ORAL, saying, “ORAL is a CRITICAL government policy. It is bigger than Free SHS.”
Barker Vormawor further warned that the success of the ORAL initiative could have a lasting political impact on the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“Do it well and It can win you 30 elections. Mess it up and I will ask for Mampam to come back and continue my Treason prosecution,” he added, alluding to his ongoing legal battles.
The ORAL initiative, which is a key campaign promise of the NDC, seeks to recover any looted assets from individuals who served in the previous government.
The government has set up a committee to gather information for the project as President John Dramani Mahama works on establishing his administration.
Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Special Aide to President Mahama, recently provided clarity on the ORAL initiative, stating that the committee’s work will conclude when a new Attorney-General takes office.
“ORAL is a preparatory team to receive as much information as possible while government sets its administration in place. ORAL ends when the Attorney-General assumes office,” Mogtari explained in an interview with GHOne TV.
