President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to improving healthcare access in Ghana by completing abandoned health projects and investing in critical infrastructure and human resources.
Speaking at the National Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Winneba on Thursday, January 9, 2025, President Mahama outlined his administration's plans to revamp the health sector just days after being sworn into office.
"We shall continue abandoned health projects and operationalise them as key steps towards expanding healthcare access nationwide," he declared.
The President emphasized the essence of prioritizing investment in healthcare infrastructure and human resources, ensuring that all Ghanaians have access to quality medical care.
“We will prioritise investment in infrastructure and human resources to ensure accessible, quality medical care,” Mahama assured.
During his campaign, Mahama pledged to resume and complete abandoned projects across all sectors.
In healthcare, this includes completing the previous government’s Agenda 111 initiative, which sought to build 111 hospitals, including three psychiatric hospitals, in underserved districts nationwide.
Of the 111 planned hospitals, only three were completed under the previous administration but remained non-operational.
