Kow Essuman, Legal Counsel to former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has urged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration to build on the initiatives of the previous government in order to position Ghana for future global opportunities.
In a social media post on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, Mr. Essuman highlighted the significance of initiatives such as 2024 NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s push to train one million young people in digital skills, as well as former President Akufo-Addo’s investment in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education.
“I sincerely hope that the new administration builds on these initiatives and positions Ghana and its citizens to take full advantage of the evolving global landscape,” he stated.
“I believe that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s initiative to train 1 million young people in digital skills was a step in the right direction,” Mr. Essuman added, praising the foresight behind the initiatives that align with global trends in job growth.
He also noted the strategic importance of the investments in STEM, which he described as a strong foundation for future development.
“Additionally, the investment made by Nana Akufo-Addo in STEM education provides a solid foundation for this effort,” he said.
Mr. Essuman compared these efforts to the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2025, which outlines key job sectors set to grow rapidly in the coming years, including roles in digital technology, data science, and renewable energy.
“It almost feels as if they co-authored the report,” Mr. Essuman remarked, suggesting that the initiatives launched by the previous government align well with global projections for job growth.
Per the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2025, the global job market is shifting rapidly, with technology-driven fields expected to dominate.
