A 26-year-old Media Practitioner, Mr Abubakar Seidu, has declared his intention to contest the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Constituency parliamentary seat on the ticket of the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP).

Mr Seidu, currently the News Editor of Liberty 92.7 FM, a private radio station at Sefwi Wiawso, told this paper that his decision to contest the seat was based on the fact that the youth in the area were yearning for a more dynamic, outspoken and policy-oriented person to lead them in the next election, after the previous MPs had woefully failed them.

“We have tried the NDC and the NPP but they all failed to deliver. This time, it is the turn of not just the DFP but a right leader,” Mr Seidu said.

Mr Seidu, who was recently involved in a fatal motor accident while going round the constituency in his party's vehicle, said he was not deterred by the accident and that it would rather spur him on to fully face the challenges ahead.

He said his educational programmes on air coupled with his positive media reportage on Sefwi had made him an icon in the area.

Mr Seidu, who is a founding member of the DFP, said his prospects were bright. He was therefore hopeful to win victory which he said, would be a victory for the ordinary people.

He expressed concern that some Sefwi citizens turned their back on the people soon after they were voted into power and only returned when they needed their votes.

Mr Seidu said such an attitude on the part of politicians had contributed to the deprived state of the area, which could best be described as an economic basket.

“Greed, selfishness and pull him down attitude are more responsible for our woes,” he said.

He stressed that the time had come for a radical change in the choice of leaders to ensure progress.
