MON, 06 JAN 2025

The Member of Parliament for Nsuta Kwaman Beposo, Hon. Adelaide Yaa Agyeiwaa has praised the NPP government for completing and commissioning a 50-bed infectious disease centre in the Ashanti Region.

The commissioning was done alongside the opening of long awaiting Sewua Hospital which will serve as Ashanti Regional Government Hospital.

The facility thus Infectious Disease Center was constructed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak in 2020.

According to the Deputy Minister of Health, the centre will play a crucial role in improving disease control not only in the Ashanti Region but also throughout Ghana.

Hon. Adelaide Ntim emphasized that the facility will provide opportunities for unemployed health workers to serve their country.

The MP urged users of the facility to prioritize regular maintenance to ensure it remains in good condition for patients.

This is a significant concern, given the importance of maintaining healthcare infrastructure in Ghana, where the doctor-to-patient ratio is 1:7,500 and the nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:450.

The commissioning of the infectious disease centre is a notable achievement, especially considering the region's healthcare needs.
