Hayatou Appointed Chairperson Of 2010 Organising Committee

Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Issa Hayatou has been appointed as the Chairperson of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee (OC).

Chief Executive Officer of the OC, Danny Jordaan, warmly congratulated Hayatou, who has also worked on the International Olympic Committee for a number of years, on his appointment.

"We welcome the appointment of (Issa) Hayatou and we are very happy that he is the first African chairperson of FIFA's World Cup Organising Committee," said Jordaan.

"We have worked well with Mr. Hayatou for many years and we look forward to strengthening that relationship even more as we host the FIFA World Cup in 2010.”
