National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has dismissed criticisms levelled by the Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, asserting that the NDC does not require lessons on democracy from him or his party.

The NDC National Chairman’s remarks came during a press conference on Friday, 13 December 2024, in response to comments made by Afenyo-Markin a day earlier.

The Majority Leader had accused the NDC leadership of obstructing the re-collation process at the Tesano Police Training School and called on the party to respect the Electoral Commission (EC) and adhere to due process.

“I heard Afenyo-Markin, who has rejected the position of Minority Leader, is now on his way to becoming a micro-minority leader, bragging that he belongs to a party of the rule of law,” Mr. Asiedu Nketiah remarked.

The NDC National Chairman strongly refuted the allegations, maintaining that his party was operating within its rights and accused Afenyo-Markin of overstepping.

“Who doesn’t know the NPP? We in the National Democratic Congress do not need lectures from Afenyo-Markin about democracy at all. Indeed, if there were any need for lectures in impunity, then we will invite him as a lecturer, but if it is about democracy, he must shut up,” he stated.
