Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has criticized the Electoral Commission (EC) for allegedly engaging in an illegal re-collation of parliamentary results without a court order.

In a social media post on Friday, December 13, Dr. Omane Boamah stated that any attempt to re-collate results that had already been declared is against electoral laws.

“The Electoral Commission Ghana must know that per C.I. 127, the only way to re-collate after declaration is through the courts,” he wrote.

He further cautioned that the NDC will not accept such re-collations under any circumstances.

“This point of law renders their re-collation illegal. And the incoming NDC government will not entertain such re-collations. Re-collation of parliamentary seats that had already been collated without a court order will not stand!” he emphasized.

Dr. Omane Boamah also urged vigilance from NDC supporters and reminded them to remain observant of the EC’s actions.

“Still keep #EAGLEEYES on the Electoral Commission and the NPP,” he added.

The EC began collating disputed parliamentary results at the National Police Training Depot in Tesano, Accra, on Thursday, December 12.

Constituencies involved include Suhum, Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Akwatia, and Fanteakwa North, all in the Eastern Region.

Dr. Omane Boamah clarified that the NDC is not against the collation of constituencies where results had not been initially tallied but stressed the importance of differentiating such cases from those already declared.

“Be informed that some of the constituencies had not been collated. Separate that from those that had been collated,” he wrote.
