The Member of Parliament for Effutu and Majority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has accused Stan Dogbe, an aide to President-elect John Dramani Mahama of inciting violence against him.

Stan Dogbe had earlier referred to Afenyo-Markin as “that Afenyo Markins boy” in a Facebook post today Thursday December 12, accusing him of disrespecting President-Elect John Dramani Mahama.

“That Afenyo Markins boy better advise himself and stop his disrespect towards HE Mahama,” Dogbe wrote.

In a clapback, Mr. Afenyo-Markin expressed deep concerns over the NDC stalwart’s comments which he described as a threat to his life.

In his post, Mr. Afenyo-Markin stated, “I see your post as an attempt to incite your vigilante boys to attack me. I have not stood anywhere to insult the President-elect. I’m only calling on your party leadership to follow due process in the ongoing process. The violence must stop now.”

“It is important to also point out to you that I am older than you, so do not describe me as a boy. Accord me respect. Take note of this. My name is AFENYO-MARKIN, not Markins,” he emphasized.

He further urged President-elect Mahama to act decisively to stop alleged acts of violence and intimidation by members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“I call on Prez Mahama to take action in the interest of democracy,” he stated.

In response to the MP’s concerns, Mr. Dogbe posted an image of a signboard for the Accra Psychiatric Hospital, stating, “This is what some of you need!”

Amid the heated exchanges, Mr. Afenyo-Markin maintained that his call for peace was in the interest of Ghana’s democracy.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, December 11, he accused NDC supporters of engaging in acts of violence and intimidation, including attacks on NPP parliamentary candidates and attempts to destroy pink sheets.

“Why is the NDC so interested in destroying evidence? Why are they interested in capturing pink sheets to destroy them and set them ablaze?” he queried.

He alleged that some NPP officials, including the parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma North, had been forced to flee their homes due to threats.

“The parliamentary candidate Ablekuma North had a sleepless night. All manner of persons were at her residence in search of pink sheets. She had to run for her safety with the timely intervention of the police,” he revealed.
