Nana Ohene Ntow, Director of Elections Planning and Coordination for the Movement for Change, has stressed the need for integrity in governance as the cornerstone of national progress.

Speaking on Accra-based JoyNews’ AM Show on Thursday, December 12, Mr. Ntow argued that a government founded on integrity is essential for achieving meaningful reforms and addressing Ghana’s pressing challenges.

“Even if we retain the system we are operating now, and people in public systems and structures serve the public with a level of integrity, I don’t think the situation would be even this bad,” he said.

According to him, establishing a government of integrity should be the first priority of any president.

He contended that with such a foundation in place, the country could embark on larger structural and constitutional changes to improve governance.

“Even before we consider changing the structure of our governance systems, including political parties and their representation in parliament, anyone who assumes the mandate as president must establish a government of integrity. This, I believe, would yield better results,” he explained.

Mr. Ntow further posed a critical question to Ghanaians, calling for introspection and societal responsibility.

“Are we ready to demand integrity from those who enter government? We need to examine our society and systems and question whether those who enter government, under the demands of law and integrity, are prepared to uphold them,” he said.

He added that while significant reforms may be necessary, incremental changes within the existing system could still make a difference.

“I think we can evaluate our current political system and structure and still make meaningful improvements,” he noted.
