The National Treasurer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Charles Dwamena has castigated regional chairmen of the elephant party who are forcefully compelling constituency executives to join them to pay a visit to the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia following his humiliating defeat in the just-ended December 7 2024 general elections.
Few days after the defeat of the party, some NPP faithfuls have been visiting the flagbearer of the NPP Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia at his official residence to pledge their continued support and encourage him after his unsuccessful presidential bid.
According to Dr. Dwamena a.k.a "Dr. China", visiting Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia should not be compulsion, explaining that it should be done willingly by any executive or individual and "not by force".
The National Treasurer has asserted that the party NEC has not given any directive to executives or any member of the party to pay a consolation visit to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
"Forcing people to pay a courtesy call on Dr. Bawumia is wrong and I will condemn it," he told newsmen in an interview.
He indicated that such actions are what got many peeved in the party and have landed the party in opposition.
"There is nothing wrong with visiting Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia but it is wrong to use party structures to whip people in line to visit him. This is what provoked many people and led to the defeat of NPP.
"It is not compulsory. An individual can do so if he wishes", he reiterated.
Dr. Dwamena therefore called on the Regional Chairmen of the party to desist from such actions.

What are you trying at Mr Nobody What led to Bawumia defeat was that the country Ghana made a choice. If it was the fact that people within the party were peeved, then maturity is dead and buried within the NPP. Your action is a sign of immaturity!
