President-elect John Dramani Mahama has expressed profound gratitude and amazement at the scale of his victory in the 2024 presidential election, describing it as an act of divine intervention.
Mahama secured 56.55% of the total valid votes, decisively defeating his main challenger, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who obtained 41.61%.
This landslide victory also marked a historic win for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which claimed a commanding majority in Parliament with over 170 confirmed seats, including several constituencies traditionally dominated by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The outcome not only underscores Mahama’s broad appeal but also strengthens his mandate as he prepares to lead Ghana once again.
During a courtesy visit from the leadership of the Assemblies of God Church, led by Reverend Stephen Wengam, the President-elect called on the church to continue its prayers and support. He emphasized the importance of their partnership as he focused on addressing Ghana’s economic challenges in the coming years.
Mahama’s victory represents a pivotal moment in Ghana’s political history, signaling both a renewed trust in his leadership and a fresh opportunity to steer the nation toward economic recovery and unity.
“In every step that I have taken, I know that the church has followed me with prayer, and especially in the run-up to this election, I know all the prayer networks that were actively praying for our success and this can not be by our might.
“I was positive that we will win but to the extent of this victory can only be God’s hand at work. It is one of the biggest endorsements that Ghana has ever given to any president”.
“This is the time that we need prayers even more because the expectations of Ghanaians are going to be even more, and we all know that the country is in a severe economic crisis, so it is going to take a lot of hard work to bring it back.
“We will expect that the church will continue to pray for us, and then we also will reciprocate that love the church has shown to us by being ambassadors and advocates for the church”.
