The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into the ransacking of the residence and office of Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West and Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, following her loss in the 2024 general elections.
Unidentified individuals reportedly broke into her home and office shortly after the election results were announced, leaving significant damage in their wake. Videos circulating on social media reveal scenes of disarray, with scattered documents and overturned furniture showcasing the extent of the vandalism.
While the motive for the attack remains unclear, the incident has heightened concerns about the safety of political figures in the aftermath of the elections.
In a statement, the police strongly condemned the act, assuring the public that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible. They also appealed to anyone with information to come forward and assist with the investigation.
Meanwhile, the police have refuted claims that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) office in Kasoa was vandalized, urging the public to disregard such misinformation.
