IMANI Africa Founding President Franklin Cudjoe has urged President-elect John Dramani Mahama to exercise caution when making appointments to key government sectors.

In a social media post on Tuesday, December 10, Mr. Cudjoe emphasized the need for Mahama to avoid placing individuals with questionable wealth sources in influential positions.

Mr. Cudjoe, who has been involved in various advisory roles under previous administrations, reflected on his work with the first John Mahama government, where he served on a committee to reduce unneeded government agencies.

He also highlighted his role on a forex committee under former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta during the Akufo-Addo administration.

He noted that while the latter initiative had challenges, they successfully saved the government almost GHS 200 million.

However, Cudjoe expressed disappointment that the government failed to continue efforts to prune the bureaucracy, which he described as the “largest wasteful and corrupt bureaucracy ever.”

He criticized the current administration for failing to build on past successes and instead driving the country into a financial crisis.

Cudjoe assured that despite his discontent with the current government, he would continue offering advice to Mahama.

“I will be urging him to be very careful with certain appointments to critical sectors and he should be wary of moneybags with questionable sources of wealth who will be lobbying for certain positions in order to perpetuate their trade as they did under Nana Akufo-Addo,” he stated.

The policy advisor further condemned violent acts against innocent people, urging those responsible for destruction to cease their actions.

“All those attacking innocent people and destroying public and private property must stop! Please don’t take the law into your hands and do stupid stuff! You will be dealt with appropriately,” he said.
