Ghana has elected former President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) back into power following the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.
The country went to the polls on Saturday, December 7, 2024. By midmorning on Sunday, December 8, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, conceded defeat, acknowledging Mahama's "decisive victory."
On Monday evening, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, officially declared Mahama as the winner of the election.
However, she noted that results from nine constituencies were still pending due to disruptions caused by party supporters at collation centres.
